Western Australian farmers looking to explore or launch carbon farming initiatives can now apply for support under Round 3 of the Carbon for Farmers Voucher Program.
This latest round offers a total of $500,000 in funding to assist landholders with accessing expert advice and preparing for carbon project implementation. Delivered through the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), the initiative supports the Cook Government’s commitment to a sustainable, low-emissions agriculture sector.
💡 What’s Available
- Up to $5,000 vouchers to assess feasibility of carbon farming options—covering sequestration potential, co-benefits, risks, and ROI.
- Up to $15,000 vouchers to develop detailed carbon project plans and kickstart implementation.
The funding is ideal for producers who want to better understand their options before committing to a carbon method or formal project.
📈 Why This Matters
With 90 vouchers already issued in earlier rounds—worth over $1 million in government investment—WA farmers are showing growing interest in building carbon initiatives that enhance land use, support biodiversity, and offer new income streams.
🌱 A Word from Minister Jackie Jarvis
“The Carbon for Farmers Voucher Program is a terrific initiative that is helping WA farmers to build more resilient and profitable businesses, and helping carbon farming projects to hit the ground.
Interest in carbon farming continues to grow in WA and this is one of several Cook Government investments supporting our farmers to diversify income, reduce emissions, increase returns on less productive land, and deliver co-benefits.”
